Adam's Trophy Trout

The Rainbow weighed in at 11lbs and stretched 29 inches - I caught it in a deep hole close to the shore using a sinking line that I let sink for 15 seconds or so - After I decided the fly had reached adequate depth, I took in the line in rapid, spaced pulls - The trout hit like a truck in about ten feet of water and the fight lasted three or four minutes during which it jumped three times - I never used the fly reel during the fight - When it was time to release the fish I held it by its tail and moved it back and forth until it had re-oxygenated itself - I knew it was ready to go when it shook loose and took off from my grip and swam away - This is my second trout caught on a fly rod, the first weighed six pounds and was taken 50 yards in front of the lodge under similar circumstances the day before.

Caught on Klamath Lake, July 25, 2006 on a 9 weight fly rod, 6 pound leader and a seal bugger fly.
